Cottage garden, Woodbury

The client brief for this project at an attractive period cottage was to remove the existing brick retaining wall to allow the patio area to be extended and create more space.

The work involved the construction of a new stone retaining wall with steps through the middle using Tavistock walling stone and built to create a dry stone effect.

Matching slabs were then laid to extend the patio and an additional seating area to accommodate a bench was constructed behind the wall, with steps providing access between the two areas.

“The remit for our job was to design and extend our patio and to build a new retaining wall. Daniel was extremely helpful and creative in the planning stage, making recommendations about what type of stone to use and the general layout of the new patio. We were able to discuss the design throughout the process and Daniel put forward suggestions to us in a very professional and friendly way, ensuring that the design was sympathetic to the surroundings.

We were so pleased with the work that we extended it to re-turfing a lawn next to the new patio. We are delighted with the finished product and would not hesitate to recommend Green Man Gardens – hardworking, reliable and a pleasure to have working in our garden.”
